Voting Rights Advancement Act 2024. On february 29, 2024, lawmakers in the senate reintroduced the john r. Lewis voting rights advancement act restores critical protections against voting discrimination and secures equal opportunity for all americans.

To amend the voting rights act of 1965 to revise the criteria for determin ing which states and political subdivisions are subject to section 4 of the act, and for other purposes. The legislation would update and restore critical safeguards included in the original voting rights act after the supreme court weakened crucial tenets of that landmark law.
